Nutritious, good quality fats and proteins are necessary for our health. Yes, there is a place for saturated fat, coconut oil, steak, egg yolks and butter in a healthy diet. In fact, I encourage consumption of all of these things!

So how did fat become so vilified? I’m a fan of history, so let’s to take a trip back in time to the 1950s and 60s. During this time scientist Ancel Keys was conducting research to find the root cause of heart disease, a condition that was a big concern in the U.S. at the time (and still is, obviously). From his findings, he concluded that saturated fat was to blame.
